Current Characteristic Features

As of 22 December 2008, the front page of the Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth website displayed the following characteristics of what they term destruction by explosives and a classic controlled demolition with explosives. The first is a category meant to describe the collapse of the Twin Towers, and the second the collapse of 7 World Trade.

Both lists contain what they consider ALL characteristics of each category. They had made the distinction of what they had termed non-standard characteristics, but have removed that category from their front page. Now, again, all listed features are claimed to be seen in all buildings either destroyed by explosives or classically demolished with explosives. This is ludicrous of course, but that's what they claim.

Changes to these lists on the website are available by clicking the history of this current page. These lists as expressed in the slide show have also seen substantial revision in the two year history of AE911Truth. Those changes are detailed at this page.

AE911Truth's Current List of Characteristic Features

As seen in this revealing photo, the Twin Towers' destruction exhibited all the characteristics of destruction by explosions:

Destruction proceeds through the path of greatest resistance at nearly free-fall acceleration
Improbable symmetry of debris distribution
Extremely rapid onset of destruction
Over 100 first responders reported explosions and flashes
Multi-ton steel sections ejected laterally
Mid-air pulverization of 90,000 tons of concrete & metal decking
Massive volume of expanding pyroclastic-like clouds
1200-foot-dia. debris field: no "pancaked" floors found
Isolated explosive ejections 20-40 stories below demolition front
Total building destruction: dismemberment of steel frame
Several tons of molten iron found under all 3 high-rises
Evidence of thermite incendiaries found by FEMA in steel & dust samples
Evidence of explosives? found in dust samples
No precedent for steel-framed high-rise collapse due to fire

And exhibited none of the characteristics of destruction by fire, i.e.

Slow onset with large visible deformations
Asymmetrical collapse which follows the path of least resistance (laws of conservation of momentum would cause a falling, intact, from the point of plane impact, to the side most damaged by the fires)
Evidence of fire temperatures capable of softening steel
High-rise buildings with much larger, hotter, and longer lasting fires have never “collapsed”

WTC Building #7 (a 47-story high-rise not hit by an airplane) exhibits all the characteristics of a classic controlled demolition with explosives:

Rapid onset of "collapse"
Sounds of explosions at ground floor - a full second prior to collapse
Symmetrical "structural failure" – through the path of greatest resistance – at free-fall acceleration
Imploded, collapsing completely, and landed in its own footprint
Massive volume of expanding pyroclastic dust clouds
Several tons of molten Metal found by numerous highly qualified witnesses.
Chemical signature of Thermite (high tech incendiary) found in solidified molten metal and dust samples
FEMA finds rapid oxidation and intergranular melting on structural steel samples
Expert corroboration from the top European Controlled Demolition professional
Fore-knowledge of "collapse" by media, NYPD, FDNY

And exhibited none of the characteristics of destruction by fire, i.e.

Slow onset with large visible deformations
Asymmetrical collapse which follows the path of least resistance (laws of conservation of momentum would cause a falling, to the side most damaged by the fires)
Evidence of fire temperatures capable of softening steel
High-rise buildings with much larger, hotter, and longer lasting fires have never "collapsed".

At times, the front page will switch the order of the Twin Tower list and the 7 World Trade list for some unknown reason.

Some Critiques Of These Points

A friend of this site had addressed an earlier version of these points in three videos at YouTube?. However, the videos have been removed because of "terms of use violation". I'll have to look into what terms of use had been violated.

Gregory Urich, a former member of AE911Truth, has released an Open Letter (pdf) to the group in which he takes issue with the June 2008 version of these characteristics as well.

NOTE: The term "freefall speed" was completely excised from the front page listing of features at some point before May 31, 2010. However, the term is still used in the PowerPoint? presentation by speakers from AE911Truth.
